The external socket on a Bailey Pegasus Milan is in a strange position if you need to use it in a porch awning. (It's approx 4 meters from the door).
Would it be safe to run a lead out of a 260 porch awning into the external socket? How waterproof are the sockets? Are they only meant to be used inside an awning?
It doesn't feel right, but I'm wondering if I'm perhaps over cautious and other members have this sort of setup?
Yes we have a similar socket inside our wet locker door, albeit not as far from the door as yours.
We run a trailing socket from it into the porch awning to run a camping fridge, never had any problems.

Thanks... Not sure the Bailey external socket is as safe as a plug within a wet locket?
We had the same problem when we had an FC and were using the Porch Awning.
In the end we just did not use that socket when it was raining.
Instead we ran an extension out the window where the Porch Awning was.
It didn't matter that the window was slightly open because we only needed electrics in the awning when we were there anyway.
going by your pic, you can move the awning up so the side of it is next to your door and not so far back on the caravan, that should then come far enough forward to allow you to use the socket in safety then

We have the same problem except the socket is right at the front of the van so we cannot use it.
The socket is covered by the flap to some extent but is not waterproof when the plug is in it as far as I know
You want IP43 as a minimum. Is there an IP number on the socket. The plug needs to be covered by the socket enclosure as well because a standard 13A plug is not IP rated.
I can't see a problem. Its an external socket with flap which will keep the rain off. If you buy a 3mtre extention lead & replace plug with a heavy duty rubber plug then that should do the job.

Are you suggesting I have the awning next to the door of the caravan?
