Our first trip out this year will be in March which I am really looking forward to. Our last trip was November because we had bought a new (secondhand) caravan and wanted to try it out. We are not fans of caravanning in winter as the nights are so long. The cold you can wrap up for but the long dark nights put me off.
I know how you feel - we're very much looking forward to getting away as well
Last year seemed to be an unfolding chain of events that all seemed to conspire to stop us going away almost every weekend - so we're determined to make up for it this season.
We use our van all year round, it's just nice to be away from home, somewhere different for a few days. The nights are just as dark and long if we stay at home. If we are away we can visit the local pubs or other venues if desired or just stay in and watch the TV.
Us Too, we have already been on two trips since xmas, and planning another in a couple of weeks. The caravan is very rarely idle. Would rather be in a field in the country than in the city, and we love walking and country pubs.
We always look for places where we can walk to places and not get back the car again till its time to hitch up and go home. For the price of CL's its a lovely hobby.
I know i'm chomping at the bit to get out, even slept in her for the first time on the drive on saurday!
Tow bar fitted on friday so can plan from then, just the drama of getting used to a new outfit to contend with! Will hopefully get some babysitting for a test run, fingers crossed!!!

We were out for the first winter trip just before new year till the 2nd of Jan. we covered the van at the end of October and had to remove about an inch and a half of ice before we could remove the cover. The only downside was when we arrived on site the van was filthy but we enjoyed our trip we were nice and warm with our blown air heating and our Winter togged Duvalays but I had to wash the van again before I covered it up again
I would love to go all year round but OH won't. Champing at the bit now as last one was November. I may get him to go first week in march.

We went to Yorkshire between Christmas and New Year and absolutely loved it. Being cosy on a cold dark night was great. Would definitely do it again. It was nice to get a change of scenery.
we can not wait going away for 5 weeks after easter hols. Going all the way up to Altnaharra up the west side and down the east 1400.00 miles in total.taking in all the sights and visiting family while in scotland. Plus hubby has a big birthday while we are away......
We returned to caravanning late last year, so only had 1 trip out in our most recent van. This year we intend to have at least 4/5 nights a month. First trip is March the 16th, then its anytime we can fit in.
We were away new year - may go away at the end of feb, but March apil and may all planned - jan and feb can be a bit unpredictable weather wise so tend to stay home, but happy to caravan in the winter every day is a different day and a different view. I agree they are longer nights but the same length if you're at home !
