hi everybody we have taken stock of our first caravan having camped for many years we have invested in a unicorn cartagina and is going to be used as a seasonal van its a twin axel and the pitch we are putting it on slopes down to the back and to the side. whats the best way to pitch it square and while its being there for 12 months have thought of putting it on axle stands instead of leaving it on the tyres all year any advice on this would be grateful
...These sort of jacks sold in sets of 4 are good for sited caravans, use all 4 in front of & behind axles as well as corner steadies. paving slabs can be used under jacks.
It would be better to have something under wheels. raise it high enough to get some more paving slabs under wheels & then drop it down so its level. If caravan is permanently sited its worth taking a bit of trouble to get it dead level & firm so it won't sink, use a spirit level.
That is some weight to leave on plastic jacks for 12 months.I would get slabs to build it up so far and then get wooden fence posts 5x5inch to lower the van down onto below the axle.DO NOT use the steadies as jacks as they will come through the floor.
Take ur wheels off and store them out of the light and use plastic bags to cover the exposed brake drums.
Better to get it right as you dont want problems with people moving about on the floor.

Check your insurance doesn't require a wheel clamp like mine does though (or get a policy that doesn't require it) I know its silly with the wheels off but they can be a bit blind to the obvious somtimes.

Yes, leave the handbrake off once it is levelled & set up. Keep an aerosol can of lithium grease handy & sray the screw threads & moving parts on corner steadies & jacks on a regular basis so they are not seized when you do want to move caravan.
