At one time of day Sprite Musketeers were everywhere and it seemed that everyone had one (our family included), yet they don't seem to be as common today even though they are apparently still in production. Yesterday we bought a 'new style' model (1989/1990) which has a sloped front and a virtually all white exterior, which is a complete contrast to the classic yellow/orange shell and 'square' appearance that we associate with 70's/80's musketeers. If they have changed so much in the last decade or so how can they still be called Musketeers? - and are they still as reliable and solid as they used to be?
The Musketeer produced today is a far different animal from that of yesteryear. The so-called Musketeer is a product of the Swift group who purchased the name Sprite upon the demise of C I and the closure of the old Newmarket factory. The Musketeer being just one of the Sprite range and together with the Major sported the instantly recognizable feature of the stepped roof profile . As you say, the modern Sprite no longer has this distinctive shape, and from a distance loks like any other van. Whether its better built than the old ones, who am I to judge. What I do know is I owned a Sprite Alpine for 19 years, 10 of which it was laid up and I still resurected it and used it, that was a 1962 model by the way. ...Mick
We used to have a 1989 Major and later a 1991 Musketeer. Think the last was 1993 or 1994. Then the Sprite name disappeared until Swift resurrected it last year.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
Still running a 1990 musky bone dry light to tow and so far no problems which from what i read on some forums is better than some modern 3 to 4 year old modern vans
We got our Musketeer last October. Now that all the problem`s have been sorted we are really looking forward to going on holiday. Have to say it is really looking good. It`s suprising what a bit of TLC can do.(And some hard graft)
Kevin, nice work mate that is a heck of a nice tin tent. would have a sprite alpine myself but dont have any space to put one as unlike my wynnster buzzard tent it cant be shoved in the bottom of the wardrobe :-)
We just purchased a Sprite Musketeer CD 5 Berth 1993 caravan today, its our very first caravan, so its really warming to read the comments in this thread.

Cheers Alan126. Debi wasn`t to keen when we first got it especially afetr we discovered all the damp. But since it been done up she really likes it now. We have it in storage just now as I don`t trust half the kids around this area. Someone in our street had a party last year and the police were called out. Thinking it was us that done it someone poured gloss paint all over the front of the car. Had to take the day off work to get it cleaned up. Luckily it was raining and the paint hadn`t properly set. Couldn`t prove who it was that done it although I knew who. Then they have the cheek to say that no one form the party would do a thing like that.
