im looking to buy a massive tourer, at least 620 really. I want it to live in for a bit with my two german shepherds. Daft I know. Ive naturally been looking at hobbys, as theyre huge. My budget is 11k really. Would like a fixed bed.
any other vans to recommend that are large on space and spec? I know people are up and down with the hobbies
I think a hobby is perhaps the way forward for you... eternitys are great with slide out sides the bailey retreat is nice but im not sure on the towing of them as they seem to be more seasonal pitch vans
Bear in mind that caravans over 7m body length require tow vehicle over 3.5t gvw by law so cannot be towed by any private car legally. This would include largest twin axle German vans like Hobby, Fendt, Lmc etc.

Having lived in our caravan permanently for 2 1/2 years, we would not consider a Hobby as it would be just about impossible to insure.
However the main reason was because the Hobby has to have its own mains water unless you pay to get it converted to accept an aquaroll. In addition, in many cases thge bathroom/toliet and shower are all in one cubicle so eveything gets wet when showering. At the time we had a Lunar 640 with an island bed.
We enjoyed living in the caravan but sadly had to move out and back under tile and mortar due to ill health.
do you have a place to actually site the caravan first and do they accept hobbys a few places dont and as well as 2 dogs a few places dont accept dogs..I know the site i am on dont accept dogs on the resident part of the site..but accept hobbys
------------- lunar solar ecclipse 4 berth. living in caravan permantly on site.
I find hobbys and other german made vans a bit basic, what about a lunar freelander, ours is 28ft long and our 300c glides as if its not there.Or there is scirocco but cant remember the make. There is lots of large nice vans that can be towed with a standard car or 4x4.
------------- i dont sell cheap tat.I sell tat cheap
We have a Elddis Crusader Super Sirocco Twin Axle and it is great . We have dark windows .it a L shaped lounge a big fridge freezer Fixed Bed. End Washroom it has a Airing Cupboard in there for your wet gear .it came with a Satllite dish on the roof . Air Conditioning as well
We brought it new to us in January 2014
you will need a big car/4x4 to pull this it comes at 1900 cwt . my car will not tow it, so we have it on a seasonal pitch with a full winter cover over it
