Thinking of a modification to the heating ducts, with it being a small van it only has the two outlets which are quite adequate (explore 302)
Problem is the draft from the vent under the seat, as we use the van in the colder months I was thinking of punching a few holes in the ducting as it runs near the vent hoping I get warm air instead of cold coming through.
Anybody tried this or see a problem if I go ahead, guess I can always cover the holes with tape if there's no improvement.
These hot air systems are often poorly arranged, and a bit of careful DIY work can be needed to get them working satisfactorily.
Our previous Coachman with end washroom was excellent, whereas our newer Swift is very inefficient, even though both vans have basically the same equipment. The swift came with one end of the main blower pipe fully open where it ended under the front locker.
This needed closing to make the heat go to the flap adjustable vents. There is also a quadrant valve behind the heater, which can be adjusted to change the volume of air going to either the front or back of the van. (i.e., the more that goes in one direction, the less goes in the opposite direction).

We just used our heater as a convector by not having the fan on. Made the van much warmer and more comfortable. There is so much heat lost in all the ducting, some of which ran underneath the van.

Thanks but it only has blown air it's a whale under floor heater which is well up to the job, problem is the draft from the seat box.
Due to poorly thought out regulations, pre 1998 caravans had far too much floor level ventilation and no amount of holes in the ducting is going to help with that!
So with the strict exception of small gas drop holes directly under or very close to gas connections, all holes through the floor can safely be blocked off.
Also make sure the back of the fridge is totally blocked off from the living space, again making sure the gas drop hole is unobstructed.
Under current regulations, all the low level ventilation you actually need in a caravan of up to 10 square metres of floor space is a hole equal to 1500sq mm close to floor level. In other words one hole 15mm x 100mm, this is generally more than taken care of by the vent in the door if present.
EDIT: sorry just read it has Whale heating so obviously later than 98, still the above applies but I'm not at all sure why this should be??
