Can anyone tell me (I know it's not an exact science) if a bog standard caravan fridge would use much electricity if left connected to the mains all the time? Our site is changing to metered electric and I'm wondering if I should leave fridge on all the time or off when we leave our sited van. Last year it was so handy being able to leave stuff like butter, cheese etc for subsequent visits. We are up almost every weekend during the season.
Draw on mains is well under 1amp so very little. However elements in absorbtion fridges do eventually fail so the longer it is left on the sooner it will fail, I suppose?
Its clear enough, as pointed out, current drain is negligible so no problem if you want to leave it on permanently, it won't cost much in electricity.
But as pointed out, fridge elements do fail eventually & repair is costly unless you can diy. So obviously if you run fridge continuously it will hasten the day when it does fail.
