Our X trail has a CD above the glove box and you can purchase an updated Disc from FLee bay .

Just updated ours to a 2013 disc no problem, for about 8 pound we have a 2005 x trail

Hope this helps

Having the X-trail myself I had the same issue a couple of years ago and although I acquired a more up to date map they are fine for general AtoB journeys but I find the TomTom much more versatile, in so much you can add a multitude of POIs to the TomTom and the cost of upgrading the on board unit would by way exceed the price of a new TomTom with free life time maps, and the TomTom sucker sticks to the on board screen so not to leave tell tale rings on your windscreen.

Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level then beat you on experience.
