We're looking to buy our first caravan, and have looked at alsorts of makes, we have a budget of around 10k and am almost set on an adria altea 542 dt. However I've always like the Hymer Nova vans but not seen many 5 or 6 berth ones ever come up for sale. Until that is now, a 2005 530k has been a advertised for 6k and it looks really good on the pics. One concern is it's age though at 18 yrs old is it going to start being problematic and possible start suffering water ingress etc? What are peoples thoughts and experiences with these older Hymer vans now? I understand it has a unique construction method called pual.

Hymer caravans are very well built but also very heavy, an Altea is very lightweight compared to Hymers so check your vehicle can tow it safely, even nearly new caravans (not necessarily Hymer) can suffer from water ingress, your best bet is to get it checked out by a NCC approved person before you purchase.
