My car is wired for a pre 1998 and I now have a later van .Currently I have a perm batt on pin 4 and ignition controlled charging on 2 the new van seems to need a perm supply and charging on4 can I combine my existing blue and green wires on pin4 which would seem to achieve the required result? Peter
Hi Peter and welcome to the forum. Personally I don't know but someone with a better idea should be along soon with specialist knowledge of older car wiring. A few extra details may help, what make and model of car are you referring to?

Thanks for your reply I have a Rover 75 with 12n and 12s sockets wired to the pre 1998 standard and my new van is a later model .Anyway had a very helpful call from someone at Witter towbars who explained that modern vans have a built in device which automatically switches to charging mode once the voltage is up so no need of the separate battery charging circuit that existed prior to 1998 .So I have no need to do anything --- very relieved !!
