We are now looking for second hand caravans, but the majority of the adverts do not state the unladed and fully laden weights of the caravans, which makes it hard to narrow down our selection to follow up with.
Is there a website anywhere that gives information on various makes and models of caravan to be able to get the weight info.
The reason we need this is that for the short term we are looking at buying a slightly older caravan and towing with our Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi, which If i read rightly gives us a max manufacturer tow weight of 1100kg, with an 85% weight of 975kg. And keeps us well within the 2500kg legal tow limit for my licence. Eventually we will trade this in for something newer and probably bigger when we have a bigger tow car.
Cheers

Feel nostalgic (probably the wrong word) for the trailer tent, but love the caravan. "Camping" all year round is fantastic.
The limit on your licence will be 3500kg if it is dated after 1997.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
That weight is going to limit you to some very small caravans, such as small 2 berths or old 4 berths. Probably something up to about 12 foot long.
How many are you?
Freedom do a range 10ft long with max load of 750kg. Bailey Rangers were fairly light. There was a 470/4 but you will be looking at something pretty old.
Bailey did do a range called Discovery which were very light mainly because they didn't have much kit but looked modern and were OK.
If you need more space you may be better with a folding camper.
Probably the best bet is to upgrade the car first and then you will have a much bigger choice.
For example: http://caravans.autotrader.co.uk/used-caravans/bailey/discovery/bailey-discovery-5beth-horsham-cfpa-8a76e38c481b946a01481db3f5980617/category/touring-caravan/mtplm/min/1299
this states its a 5 berth that is 700 kg MIRO and 950 kg MTPLM.
So theoretically I could tow it (albeit not comfortably) with our Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi, until we can get a bigger car in the near future, any advice?

isnt it always the way, unless we would be willing to have a full summer without a trailertent/caravan then we could sell in spring and buy next winter, but i cant see us wanting to do that.
Hopefully get enough for the trailer tent to be able to buy the caravan without needing to put anything towards
