Hi all, having decided to take up caravanning following a few enjoyable years tenting, we've found a lovely very well cared for Ace Jubillee Statesman four berth, fixed double bed 2006 caravan not far away from us. However, we don't know much about makes and models of caravans and thought we'd ask for any opinions.

I think we've worked out that it's not necessarily top of the range but this is a lovely clean van and we're very tempted.

Thank you.

Theres no 'best' caravan from any of the large UK manufacturers, the build quality from all makes is much of a muchness. So down to the individual caravan really. It would be good if there is a service history of annual servicing from new & so on. Damp can be a problem in all makes if not caught & rectified before it gets too bad so it would be an idea to take a damp meter with you.

Also if tyres have not been changed since new you should change them before you tow it any distance even if tread is still good as tyres perish after a few yrs & can fail at motorway speeds so replace after 5-6yrs is a good idea.

We bought our first van last sept. We have a 2007 ace jubilee courier. Only issues which would make us change are layout and growing kids, we're really pleased with it. Inside ours looks more modern than quite a few of the same aged vans we were also looking at. We ended up buying a heavier car to pull it but are so pleased we did that rather than buy a more traditional feeling interior which I know I would want to replace asap. Obviously it's all personal choice but were v pleased with our ace jubilee.

Ace are part of the swift group and I think jubilee was their mid-range.

Thank you both. Thanks for your comments. We'll check the tyres - we're not sure how old they are.

Keeping our fingers crossed we can agree on the price and somewhere to store it
