We are looking at the Swift Quattro 6 berth FB side bathroom which has been discounted to £14800 from £17000
So around about a 15% saving for a new 2014 model.

The question is would i be able to make the same saving on the 2015 model at the caravan show in Oct?

The snag with the show buys if the dealer is 200 miles away so is your warranty...

I am afraid that is incorrect Mrs Bonce
Most Approved mobile engineers will only carry out certain warranty repairs
Taken from Swift's website : Your warranty stands with your supplying dealer and they are obligated to carry out any warranty work
However the swift group will authorise any swift group dealer to carry out the work BUT it is at the discretion of the individual dealer whether they take on additional customers
In practice you have NO chance believe me I know but do ring round and ask if the dealer will do warranty work on a non supplied van

Your first port of call with any problems is with the supplying dealership , other Swift dealers are under no obligation to rectify any issue which may be covered under warranty .
Some may assist you but there is no guarantee that they will and usually if they do you will wait and be at the end of the queue as there own customers come first .
Saving £sss may seem good until you have to make the long trip back to your supplying dealership .
Always better to buy local to your home address

I brought at the show and the difference in trade in price of me van compared to my local dealer was £6,000!!!

I would susgest, by at the show, but when collecting van arrange a weekend camping close to dealer to check all is working, or arrange a holiday close to the dealership shortly after purchase to get any problems fixed.

Although In feel that dealerships have no loyalty to the brand, in fact here is an example of a very unhelpful dealership in Guilford.

While touring in the Guilford area, after changing my gas cylinder, I could not get my fridge to work on gas. Over two days I checked for air lock and fuses as the igniter was not sparking. I even turned the fridge off, then on again, but with no joy!

As my Swift van was only a year old, I went to Michael Jordan Caravans Ltd in Gomshall (a swift dealership) I explained that I was on an overseas holiday and was unsure how to correct the problem with my fridge and asked if someone would have a quick look at it as I suspected that it was bound to be something simple.

The receptionist stated that as I didn’t purchase the van from them, (hardly likely, as I live in the north of Ireland) then they did not have anyone available to look at it!! A “manager” then appeared and repeated that no one was available to look at it, if I wanted to book it in, then they was an EIGHT WEEK waiting list!!!

I was really shocked at this extremely unhelpful attitude, especially from a “Swift Dealership”.
I drove a further ten miles down the road to Freeborn Motorhomes in Godalming, although not a Swift dealership, when I explained my problem, they immediately stated that someone would come out and look at it for me.

Within ten minutes an engineer appeared, stepped into the van, opened the fridge and “pressed the RESET button!!!” Immediately the fridge commenced working on gas! It took him less than thirty seconds, yet Michael Jordan a Swift dealership would not even step out of the building to look at it.

Surely it is only human nature to try and assist tourists visiting your region. I found the attitude of Michael Jordan’s staff to be deplorable, especially for a Swift Dealership, when the van in question was still under warranty.

We bought at the show and with a cash sale and no trade in all the dealers had the same bottom price. We played one off against another. I don't think you' ll match that price at the show. We haggled and finally one dealer gave us a starter pack but it was only worth about £100. So for a brand new £21,000 van we had a £2 ,000 discount. There was no difference in dealers or makes.
Hope that helps.

It was in response to the op post.
I am currently part way through my approved workshop and when done I can carry out warranty servicing. Appliances wise I can already do warranty work for truma for example.
So as long as the ncc aproved workshop is held by the engineer they can carry out servicing for warranty.

No the show van will be like you say 2015, the discount on the 2014 is because it is 2014, and they will want to move it on for the 2015 replacements.
work on the offer they are making and try and get it down even more.
tell him you realy want to buy this caravan (TODAY) but the most you can go to is £14000, and sit back and say nothing
The important thing is that you say nothing unless its an absolute no, if it is, go up 100 at a time saying nothing after each offer.
I would be very suprised if you had to pay anymore than £14300.

My servicing and warranty repairs to my Stealth are all done at a local approved workshop. This is with the whole agreement of the manufacturer - Dunster House. Otherwise a 500 mile trip to the factory !

Cheers for the info.

The van in question is the Sprite Quattro FB SR.

Just one last question I have seen a 2013 model ( used) for around £1800 less.

The 2014 model used the SMART Technology construction, so it is timberless with a 10 year water guarantee. Is this worth the extra £1800 over the 2013 model?

The Smart technology is not timberless only the smart ht is timberless and that's only on the Elegance and continental ranges (both 25 grand+)
