I don't know if this is a fault or inevitable due to design, but when away last week with our Dorema Vitesse XL awning I noticed the front poles were running with water.
Seems the rain comes in at the front/top where the spikes go through the material to hold the material taut.
We've had loads of vans/awnings and never noticed this before, but it seems like the design leads to a leak, as the pole goes into a spike which goes into a hole which leads outside, so like making your own water inlet!!
It's a second hand awning so we are going to re-proof it anyway, as there are some lighter patches on it where first owner tried to clean off bird poo.
Anyone else have this problem?
How about some of these to go outside to stop the water coming down the spike. An alternative suggested on another post are something called spat washers from a builder's merchants.
We used to have those mentioned in the above post on our poles, on an old ridge tent. Worth a try. We never had any problems with rain coming down poles.

Thank you all, that makes sense. Went round to Lowdham caravans this afternoon and looked at their set up awnings, they don't have any space between hole and spike for water to come through so these caps make sense. Well worth trying for the price.
Came away with serious Isabella Envy though..............

Similar to those were supplied with our Dorema awning so not sure why the OP does not have them?
