I was going to wall mount my 18.5 inch TV on a wall bracket. I since realised that the wooden bulkhead is rather flimsy (older light weight caravan). I would have to install a substantial backing piece of wood before mounting the bracket. Because of this, I have decided to continue using the purpose built fold down shelf.

Hi Steve, we do, not a good idea to have it bouncing on even a substantial bracket when on the road as caravan walls and woodwork are notoriously flimsy. I still have the original box and packaging that it came in, however it's getting rather tatty and I am lookin to get a padded bag for it soon.

just mounted a 24" on the side of a unit....I had to put a 9mm mdf backing inside the unit to spread the load....although that turned into another project to put in a couple of shelves!
i also got one of those quick release fittings that go between the arm and the tv. this allows us to just unlclip the TV and stow it in seconds. I would never travel with it in situ as it would bounce all over the place!
dont forget you need to get power and aerial lead to the tv too....its cost me a small fortune just sorting all this out...not to mention time in ripping everything out to feed cables.
find a "wall" strong enough to mount it on and unmount it for travel.. travel will put many times the stress on the wall and bracket that standing still will..
I screwed mine to the side of the wardrobe with a wooden batten behind to spread the load (looks a bit OTT but it's out of sight and least I know it'll not fall off half way through Corrie.
It also unclips for travelling.
