This "gassing" thing has been raised on here many times previously and a document from the British Anesthetists Council has been linked to that PROVES that it is not possible for this to happen.
Just read it.
Eastern Europeans blah blah.
More like too much bevvy. If it had been carbon monoxide they'd be dead. 2000 quid worth of stuff stolen and a pic of a "damaged" lock.
Call me cynical but who takes 2 grand of jewels etc on holiday. Nice wee insurance earner
Carbon monoxide is heavier than air. If they were bunging it through the floor vents (bit stupid to have floor vents near the exhaust), how long would it take to get the van filled with carbon monoxide without anyone noticing and how much density of gas would be needed to fill the MH?
also, the amount to put you to sleep would kill you.
35 ppm (0.0035%) Headache and dizziness within six to eight hours of constant exposure
100 ppm (0.01%) Slight headache in two to three hours
200 ppm (0.02%) Slight headache within two to three hours; loss of judgment
400 ppm (0.04%) Frontal headache within one to two hours
800 ppm (0.08%) Dizziness, nausea, and convulsions within 45 min; insensible within 2 hours
1,600 ppm (0.16%) Headache, tachycardia, dizziness, and nausea within 20 min; death in less than 2 hours
3,200 ppm (0.32%) Headache, dizziness and nausea in five to ten minutes. Death within 30 minutes.
6,400 ppm (0.64%) Headache and dizziness in one to two minutes. Convulsions, respiratory arrest, and death in less than 20 minutes.
12,800 ppm (1.28%) Unconsciousness after 2–3 breaths. Death in less than three minutes.
Of course the Gendarmerie should be looking for a gang of East european anaesthesiologists with criminal tendencies and the french hospitals would be looking for this wonder knockout drug that can be administered willy nilly with no deaths............
At 20 degC CO is slightly lighter than air,it is heavier than air at 0deg C in normal conditions it can be classed as neutral as the effect of convection mixes the gases.

And yet, in the report that the OP mentions, the family were all blood tested and found to be suffering with carbon monoxide poisoning, from car exhaust fumes.

------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
It is all a bit hearsay
Isn't it always in these cases, with a smidgen of insurance scam thrown in.

"The summer heat had made the family restless and unable to sleep but she said the last thing she remembered was seeing the lights of a car at 4.40am before “zoning out”."
And yet nobody thought to check why a car had pulled up, and sat close by, with the engine ticking over?
Try pulling up in a car on any Close in Oakwood, and the vertical blinds would be twitching within seconds!
Either their MH is super-soundproofed, or someone seems to be trying to arrange funds for a loft conversion!!
