i'm looking for some advice on service stations on the M42/M1/M18/A1 with easy, drive in-drive out parking for cararans towers.
because i'm nice/daft, i'm taking a friends van and towing it with his car, from Kidderminster to Darlington - obviously this is a rig i'm not used to and its quite a bit bigger that i use, so i'd like to have to do as little reversing and silly corners as possible.
i'll be doing the trip with two kids in the car, and an 8 months pregnant wife, realisticly 2 stops are going to be required - i'm thinking somewhere between Leicester and Sheffield, and another up around York - however any information on service areas to go for, and as importantly ones to avoid, would be very much appreciated...
as long as we can have a pee, and grab a brew and stretch our legs, we're not fussy about where we stop..
Your York Stop, try Wetherby Services, off the A1. Good signposting to get to it and then just follow caravan signs, there is designated caravan bays to park. Just make sure you only park in these bays as we noticed last time we were there, its a fine if you do not. Good toilets and plenty of shops. Definitely one of the better service stations.
m1 north...Tibshelf..you park in with the trucks...plenty of room..easy in/easy out----Wetherby on A1..No problem...then depending where you are heading in Darlington..there is a good area top left of the sliproad for the a167 with ample parking room,petrol stn ,shop and a mcdonalds.
