Just a few days away from my new caravan.

Wondering how many owners impose a "no solids" rule for their cassette loos, or is it "anything goes"?

Also, is the special dissolving loo roll all that much better or will Andrex do?

Everyone has their own opinion. We tend to use it mainly for number 1s but number 2s in an emergency.
We use special toilet roll but there are a number of posts on here with varying views. You will find out what works best for you.
If you clean out the cassette thoroughly you will be fine.

We use ours why not you have brought the van use all of its rooms. If you dont use it it will not make the van worth any more money.

The blue liquid added to the waste tank breaks down any waste so I can't see any problem why anybody wouldn't want to use it for what it was designed for. It's no different to your domestic toilet really apart from the flushing method plus you can also use the same loo roll as well.

Use my portable loo the same as any other loo - if I need to go, I go!
I tend to buy the Aqua Loo toilet paper as I find this breaks down better than "normal" loo roll but I have been told that cheap supermarket own brand works well too.

Having watched a poor bloke try and empty his Thetford which was blocked with luxury quilted loo roll as his wife "refuses to use anything else" I would maybe steer clear of luxury loo roll!!

No 1's but No 2's in the night or really early. Normal loo paper. Never had a problem with things not dissolving

We rarely caravan in places with on site toilets so the van's facilities get used. Never ever found it a problem; I feel if you have ever had children and their nappies, then what is there here to be phased by?
We use budget brand soft toilet paper as it breaks down more readily than premium brands.
We don't use proprietary toilet fluids or tablets, but Sainsburys or Tescos own brand budget Bio Washing [laundry] liquid. These enzymes based fluids very effectively break solids down, they are designed to, but I admit they don't dye things.
I also have a policy of emptying it every morning, mainly so it never gets too heavy, and at 28 shots for £1.5 cost is not an issue. The bio washing fluids are safe to dump in septic tank sewage systems found in many rural areas.
