hi
just taken my caravan in for service.
informed engineer that I thought the kitchen and bathroom taps needed new washers because when we turn them on water runs out near the lift handles.
he said they don't have washer and it might be a cartridge.
he said we might even need new taps.
I know if it was one of my taps at home I would just change the washer.
has anyone had this kind of experience before and do you think he is right?
He's right about caravan taps having a cartridge rather than washers.
Had a problem with my washroom tap dripping a bit, so tried to take it apart to replace the cartridge (cost £12) and found the head of one of the internal screws was corroded and couldn't be removed. Having discovered a replacement tap would be £85 I've decided to live with the drip for now.

I AM THINK THE SAME one wheel.
if it s going to cost £200 for two taps I will live with the drip.
Drilling out, possibly with a Dremel, would be the solution but would be much easier to work on if I could get the tap out of its hole. Unfortunately I can't get the tap backnut undone even using a proper tap spanner (jaw type).
It's one of a number of jobs on my caravan "to do" list which never seems to get any shorter. I'll see if I can get a suitable box spanner on it once the pipes are undone.
Hi corni
We had same problem with our kitchen tap, water was coming out where the lift up lever was and hubby undid it as thought we needed to get a new cartridge . it was much simpler than that with the tap top now removed the the inside was loose and all it needed was a quick tighten an all fixed .
Its worth a try
To take the top off we had to remove the hot/cold symbol with tiny screwdriver and then using an Allen key take tap top off then your at the inside that's were was loose .

Hi MrsP
Solved our tap problem. We bought another caravan.lol
Took our caravan to Wandahome at Ferrybridge for service on Monday.
Looking round caravans and we spotted a Coachman with a fixed bed and a rear b/room.
Beautiful caravan. everything we have ever wanted in a caravan.
We had no intention of buying another caravan but agreed to being given a price on our old caravan just out of curiosity.
We were offered £2000 more than Bawtry Caravans had offered us last year (robbers). Could not believe it. we are still in shock.
Had a walk round for 15 mins to think about it. decided we would take their offer and we have now bought the coachman.
we pick it up on Saturday. been counting the sleeps.
one more to go. can't wait.
ps
the leaking tap needed a new stem . we paid for the service and repairs to our old caravan because we didn't want to pass any prob's on to new owners.
always keep a spare cartridge in the caravan since a few winters back we must have left a few drops in and when we primed the system on first trip after, there was water everywhere!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
