Hiya

I've been looking at the 390 awnings after reading a thread on here.
Someone said that you have to have 390 cm of straight rail. I have 280 then a slight drop. from bum to tip off the slight drop I have 5 meters do you think i'll be ok? or am I stuck with the normal big awnings?

Ta x

That is quite right. If you only have 280 cms. of rail before it bends then anything longer will cause the material to sag which means that pegging out will be difficult plus if the doors are on the side you aren't going to be able to open and close them with the zip. You also have to check where the awning ends to make sure it doesn't cover the window as it will be difficult to get the material flush with the caravan side as the window is not flat.

Thanks Tango. YOu kind of confirmed what I thought.

I think its back to the drawing board. So im stuck with a big awning!! the straight doesn't start till after the door so it seems even the smaller one would be useless, for our van.
:(

OH wont be pleased. He hates our big awning with a passion and refuses to help erect it. 'you want it , you put it up!'

Wouldn't a 260 cms. awning fit?
That would give you about 10 cms. (4 inches) either end.

We got the Sunncamp 260 awning last week to go away with this week*.

Thought about the 390, but it would cover both side windows so that was a no no.

Unfourtunatly not. The slop is over the doorway so the 260 would defeat the object of having an area for the door to open up into

I have to say that your thought isnt necessarily correct. I have an adria astella, google it and look where the door is - right next to where the roof slopes. I had the same worry as you before I bought the porch awning and it worked fine, in fact I chose to use the door of the awning that end and it was completely normal. I think it depends on how much it slopes and at the lowest point how high that is above the ground - is it within the stated height for the awning?

Thanks. Yeah the lowest point of the slop is in fact still within the height the awning. I had a look at your adria astella (sweet van BTW) our slope is a lot more subtle then yours. We have an abi marauder if you want to google it to see what I mean.

I googled it and found lots of different ones but all had very subtle slopes that are definitely completely normal and a porch will be fine

Thanks CatieB.

OH has tracked down someone at work that's got one for us to borrow and try before we buy (just incase)

FIngers crossed it will be fine.

I don't think I could take another episode of 'grumpy dad beaten by awning in the rain!' lol
