All those toilets to unblock & clean. Grass to cut once a week. Obnoxious "chavs" to deal with. Grass to repair after a wet couple of weeks. Rushed off your feet for 6 weeks. Wondering where everyone is the rest of the year.

OK, we've only been 'vanning a couple of years and camping before that....
But every time we call in to where our van is stored and her parents are sited, and if we have a visit to a caravan accessories shop....
We always have thoughts of wanting to run our own camping and /or caravan site....
Am not alone in having these thoughts....?
Hi there, My wife and I had a similar thought to yours 10 years ago. I gave up my Sales job and we both went to work at an independent caravan site.
The good news was that we have never felt fitter in our lives and the weight just dropped off us.
The bad news was the extremely long hours, very hard physical work, one day off a week, working every weekend, dealing with stroppy customers / kids, who had no manners or the slightest compunction at leaving the toilets / showers in a right state. What their homes look like I dread to think!
We have many tales of whoa regarding this period in our lives, not all bad, but mostly. It is definately not a job where you sit on a mower all day long, it's much more than that. It could have been the private site that we worked for because we applied for the C&CC and had our trial with them and this was a better experience and better working conditions, still long hours and hard work but better! Unfortunately, due to family illnesses we were not able to continue down this path.
In conclusion, if it's what you want to do then think really hard before you do it. Many, love it, but it's not the breeze you may think!
Hope this helps you.
You could do like some CC sites we have stayed at and have no toilet block no pool no bar yes the grass would need cutting but looks like fun on one of those tractors stroppy campers would be my down fall as I would end up telling them to go forth and multiply
we thought of it more than once,if you work hard it may aswell be for yourself.Although we would go to whitby.2 years back cherry tree site at sutton on sea near skegg was up for grabs, but at 1 million and where it was would be hard to get back, lovely site though.
Why not being a warden for a season and see how you like it. At least you will get experience and a feel for the job. That way you won't spend all that money just to find out it's not for you.
Look in the magazine from CC&C or CC clubs
I would hate to work in any job involving contact with the general public (we are often obnoxious - and I include myself in that) or where you have to work in other people's holidays - so owning a site would be the worst
You only have to read the comments in the 'UK campsites' sub-forum, where people are ALWAYS complaining about high charges, dirty toilets, un-friendly wardens/owners etc, etc, etc.
Imagine that all day, every day (except for the 1 week holiday you manage to squeeze in, in February)?
