Hiya All,
I have not been on here for ages but I need some advise please.
We are looking to upgrade our vehicle, we currentley have a Vauxhall Frontera and a Bailey Ranger 460/4 2009.
We have a max budget of £7500 and like the following vehicles, looking for an 2005 or 2006 reg car:
Volkswagon Tourag
Kia Sorento
Mitsubishi Shogan
What is best, most realible and good for towing?
Thanks Lyns.

All if those cars would safely pull the bailey. The Kia has won tow car of the year before and the shoguns look good. Both can be gutsy on fuel especially when driving in town. Personally from those 3 listed I'd take the VW but please do your own research.------------- Who needs travel agents,we have our static

Towed with Sorento 9 years now, best tow car in 41 years of caravanning.Far superior to the Discovery i had before it.
As a matter of interest the previous van was a Bailey Ranger GT60 510/4 and had to keep looking in mirror to make sure it was still there

I have a Touareg and it's an excellent tow car. If you find one, make sure it has the correct electrics (wiring loom) if you want to power the fridge when you are driving along.
Despite having mine from new and ordering a 13pin socket and detachable towbar, VW didn't think to include a power loom (or even think to mention it) so I had to have it retro-fitted.
My Touareg is Auto Diesel btw.

I have towed with the old skool Kia Sorento 2.5 diesel manual and I can honestly say it tows a 1500kg caravan and a twin axle trailer with a car on it absolutely perfectly (obviously trailer or caravan - not both at once!). Sold it and bought a new Sorento 2.2 diesel auto. For your budget a 2.5 manual would be a great buy. Don't be tempted by auto or petrol models if you want cheap fuel and road tax. Also make note the car with the facelift (different bumpers, different dashboard etc) not only looks a bit more modern, it has a fair bit more bhp and torque (168bhp for newer one, around 140bhp for older one). Strong reliable car. But low 'kerb appeal' - if you ignore that you will be onto a winner!------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!

With a max weight of 1200kg, surely using something like a Mitsi Shotgun is using a sledgehammer to crack a very small nut.
Frankly any of the modern lighter SUVs will tow that no problems, and save a shed load on fuel, road tax etc.
