had so much help from you lot that I' thought I'd post this in hope it will help others .
Our water pump occaisonally leaks or seems to lose its connection . Our mobile service guy spotted the problem without us even mentioning it.( Would also highly recommend him, Steve caravanman, Sheffield area)
The terminals that go into the socket, have over time just closed up a bit . He just opened them out with a scew driver and now we don't have to fiddle about trying to get a tight fit .
he says it's a really common problem .
