My partner and I are currently in the process of re-vamping his old caravan that for the last few years has stayed in his Nans garden. He is doing all the technical and grafting work. I, on the other hand, am planning on surprising him and spending this weekend (whilst he is away on a stag weekend) re-upholstering the sofas, cushions, curtains etc. These bits I feel confident in doing, however, I was playing with the idea of revamping the interior with some adhesive vinyl???? ..I was just wondering if anyone had given this a go before? How long it takes?? How tricky it is?? How affective it is?? etc.
The key is to take your time and only unpeal it as your going, not rip the back of then try and stop it from sticking to itself
don't try and cut it to exact size, instead give yourself a little extra and cut the overhang with a craft knife, these are more like surgeons scalpels rather than a stanley knife.
As i move along I use a sofy microfibre cloth and a really do take my time, I'm a perfectionist but the results if you do it properly are brilliant.
I've done wardrobes, drawer fronts anda coffee table and they are all going strong. Always over buy, that way if you ever damage some and need to replace, you have plenty of spare.
If you are turning corners, then heating gently with a hairdryer helps.
Keep us updated, I love rest projects

Thank you for all your advice guys!! I think I have the patience for it.. I'm just thinking so as not to give myself too big a task, maybe i'll just do the cupboard doors for now. We are off on our first adventure in only two weeks for my partners sons birthday, soooo don't want to rush it and make a mess! Baby steps!! Thanks again
I did my friends small chest of drawers (3) in about 30 mins. I could prob best advise if you could include a photo?
another tip, if you are removing knobs and covering then putting knobs back on, do not over tighten as this will twist the vinyl and pull it out of shape.

I have used it before, and find it a doddle.

I revamped the washroom in my old caravan using pretty much the same method, took a lot of time and patience but the result was certainly well worth it.

If you spray a mist of water onto the surface first, this will allow the vinyl to move and shrink back to size before final trimming. It is also easy to peel back if needed and to press out air bubbles. When water drys it will stick as it should.
