Just a quick message, whenever my caravan is pitched I find that one time I seem to have hot water and another time the water is cold. Can't seem to fathom the problem.

when you arrive and connect the water up, are you remembering to bleed the air out of the system before you turn on to heat the water? start from the tap furthest away from your water barrel, normally that is the shower and then bathroom taps and then kitchen
Sorry for the lack of knowledge, the heater is switched to electric, I think I am bleeding taps correctly.

If there is plenty of water coming from the taps, but it is cold when it should be hot, then you are bleeding the system properly. The problem clearly lies with either the heating element or the water thermostat. If you are not able to check them yourself I would recommend that a competent electrician checks them for you.
Hi, yes I am. Tried my water again mid afternoon and started running hot, obviously not bleeding it properly or there is a faulty connection. Thank you anyway and thanks for all the replies.

I would imagine that does depend on what water heater you have. The one I recently installed in my caravan to replace the broken Cascade 2, gets noticeably warm after about 10 minutes. It is certainly hot after 30 minutes. My new heater is mains-only, whereas the Cascade was gas only.
The water pump is powered by 12 volt electrics whereas the hot water tank is powered by 240 volt mains. Have you checked that the mains supply hasn't tripped because that would be a reason why you sometimes have water and other times not. Maybe it's a daft question but just ruling it out as a possibility of sometimes having hot water and then not. If it is ruled out then I would assume it's a component fault as suggested by Colin21 either being a defective heater element or thermostat.
