we bought a caravan in October. We are wanting to give it a wash but we are getting mixed opinions regards what to use.

Our van is a 2010 swift model with the smooth finish.

All we was wanting to use was a dot of Fairy liquid with warm water.

Is this ok ? Any suggestions ?

When I had a caravan I always used car shampoo with good results most of them contain wax so you get a good shine as you do it.

Personally I would not use Fairy liquid. Get yourself any half decent car shampoo.

Will not do any harm as far as im concerned,just make sure its well rinsed.Using something like fairy will de wax it though but,as suggested a good car was n wax will do a better job.

Fairy (or other washing up liquids) will remove any wax. That's what they are designed to do. A good car wash n wax will be better but you may also need fenwicks black streak remover.

I use ordinary car wash and wax shampoo, on the really dirty bits.

 I have polished my van with muc-off polish, which is excellent. A hose down then clean with the extending hose brush works fine.

Lidl/Aldi occasionally have caravan cleaner on special offer, especially around this time of year. Worth keeping an eye out for as it can be expensive from an accessory shop.

Just washed mine this morning prior to going away.
Fenwicks caravan wash and I put a drop of their bobby dazzler in the water as well..sparkling.

I would normally use car wash/wax shampoo but I got some Fenwicks products free when I bought the van.

Just washed our today with Aldi's caravan cleaner as we have don't for the past few years it leaves a nice shine.

I usually clean mine with car wash and wax, but I ran out last year, when I wanted to give it a wash before putting the winter cover on.

So I used a bowl of warm water and soap flakes and I was amazed at how clean it came up! It will need waxing when I take the cover off, but what an excellent and easy job the soap flakes made of it!

Fenwicks all the way, may be expensive but last ages, Bought a bottle in 2008 still using it now  and i wash alot

I used the Aldi waterless wash & wax in a white spray bottle. Cost £4.99 last year.Used it on my white car first and it came up really nice. Helps expel the rain as well.
Wipe on with one cloth and wipe off with another. Gets rid of black streaks as well.

All my valets are completed using Turtle wax/wash, I have found it to be a really good product and a reasonable price. Please don't use a waterless system especially if you have had Sahara sand dumped onto your van as it will end up in a worse state than when you started
