Had a few probs with the wiring on our new tow car (won't go into too much detail), most have been sorted but when hubby tested the fog lights after the last lot of work had been done, the fog lights weren't working when hooked up to the caravan. When unhooked they still weren't working.
This work is due to be fixed this week but when he tested it today the fog lights were working. Is it worth getting it checked out? The car is under warranty but we are worried it may be an intermittent fault.
It's a Ford Kuga, but the fault isn't with the car but with a main Ford dealer fitting the tow bar 'in-house' rather than paying for it to go to a tow bar specialist.
Hi Rizzo, just for info, many cars have an extra relay fitted in the fog-lamp circuit like mine so that when towing the car's fog lamps are turned off, this avoids that irritating glow in your rear window as the lamps are reflected off the front of the caravan. The fog lamp on the rear of the caravan is lit and the the car's fog lights return to normal when solo.
You obviously have other issues by you're description but it may be complicated by a similar addition that isn't working properly. Make sure they fix it properly for peace of mind and safety.

That's exactly what we wondered Dave, whether when it's hitched up the lights don't work, but on the occasion he tested them after the work was done when he unhitched they still weren't working, but now they are!
Lots or car nowadays when towbars are fitted the car computer is reset so that the car knows the caravan is connected and automatically makes adjustments to braking and bulb failure circuits ect. When car is connected to caravan the rear fogs on car will not illuminate. When disconnecting caravan plug it may be that car ignition has to be switched off before the rear fogs will operate again.
