Hi
We are looking at part exing our pageant Vendee in the next few months. I had been looking at the Bailey Pegasus 534 or the Olympus. We were looking at a 2010 model but after reading stories of wet front lockers I was wondering whether we should avoid them? Should we push the budget and go for the mark II versions? Are these models better? I'm hoping that whatever we choose we will still have the 7 year water ingress warranty. How easy is it to ensure that it will be in place after the purchase has been made or is it something that the dealer will put in place before the transaction is complete?
Would welcome any thoughts. Thanks.
We bought a new pegasus rimini in 2012 just before the 10 year was taken off . We did have a problem when we first bought it . We don't have it serviced where we bought it . But bailey said they do honour warranty s at other recognised dealers also if part exchanged.
We do like our van and find baileys have a very good customers service. They have always replied to my e mails promptly . So try e mailing with your query .
Also the dealer where we have our service said he knew what our problem was and repaired it stating we would not have any other problems . So hopfully he is right . We can only wait and see. He doesn't sell baileys but seems happy servicing it. And speaks quite highly of them . But we have had our ups and downs. Buying second hand may be best because everything will have been ironed out.
2010 model bailey pegasus comes with 10 yr warranty as standard just need to fill out the form and make a payment of £35.00 to bailey along with a copy of the cris doc and service book which they will send back to you once change of ownership has been done
Well that's all very promising. It's amazing how many bad reports you can find when looking for them but glad to see that there's good stuff out there too. We are trying to decide between the Elddis Odyssey 550 and the Pegasus 534. Different layouts but positives in both. But to my knowledge Elddis do not offer the water ingress warranty on their 2010 models. I may be wrong. the warranty is a biggie for me but OH wants the island bed. I just see all the cupboard space that's missing.
Thanks again
Alison
That's what I really like about the Bailey but the Elddis is very limited for space. I'm guessing that the island bed means lots of wasted space. That's the compromise. We are a family of 3 (and the dog) so do need the cupboard space on our main holidays. Good to hear all positive things about the Pegasus 534. Just out of interest, what is the difference between that and the Olympus 534 apart from the cosmetic differences. Is it the same layout. Seems so to me but not actually seen one in the flesh yet,
Thanks
Alison
We currently have a 524 (2010 model) and there has never been a problem with leaks of any kind. Under warranty the only jib we have had done was a new pump on the toilet and the (very common) pink tinges to some of the 'gasket' rubber between the body and the bumper sections.
I say currently because we are waiting on a new van, a Compass, which we chose because we don't like the big central windows on the new model Baileys.
we had a 2010 534 , lots of issues from new ( 40 + ) including severe damp in the front / side lockers beneath the plastic trays.had a nice mushroom covered floor under there !! the van spent more time at the dealers or at bailey than it did on site.
got so depressed with the whole thing we flogged it last year and bought an oldish coachman for very little ££ that so far has been trouble free .
on a more positive note the pegasus cupboard space was excellent ...just sometimes you couldnt open the top ones as the plastic catches swell when they warm up .

The problem is people never report the good stuff, or when they are not having problems
Major difference is the width as stated by someone else above.
We've never had any problems with our wet lockers, although I would recommend checking the locks as they are weak (physically). Also both models should have had anti stone chip panels fitted on the front (above the bumpers either side of the gas lockers. If this has not been done, get it done. It will be free under warranty.
Look out for added optional extras such as centre drawers in the seating area (£300 option), magazine rack, and anything other than factory standard upholstery, as these will add to the resale value later, but are often missed by dealers!
Well we looked at one today and as long as we can transfer the warranty we will be buying it!!!! Still love the size and that end bathroom will be a godsend. Just a little concerned as the dealer didn't have all the servicing paperwork. Also the book wasn't stamped. But there were 3 years worth of stickers on the front of the van. They are going to chase the paperwork and contact bailey to convert the warranty over. If they can't do that we will walk away.
Thanks for all your replies.
As always, you've been a great help
