I have recently had an operation as a preventative due to early cancer cells detected.
I have insured car caravan and my husband to go away to the Netherlands. However they wanted another £100 for me due to having had this operation . I refused much to the annoyance of the person I was speaking to . But I said o I'm not paying it .
Should I just take a chance and not insure myself . I did say as long as the car caravan and my OH are covered that would be ok.

Any one on here who works in insurance .
Can I just take an independent health insurance just for me .

If you are a member of the caravan club try their Red Pennant Travel Insurance.
Had an acceptance this year with no extra premium or conditions by answering a few simple questions questions.
Good luck

Cheers

Insure but just exclude the one medical condition. This is a much safer option. My travel insurance was loaded by an extra £170 this year and that is after I have had the problem sorted!!! I paid it for piece of mind.

Hubby has non operative cancer and when we go away we don't insure the tumours, they wanted £1500 just for him and it dropped to £89 for the two of us world wide for a year after the tumours were left at home, it crazy.

Try TSB travel insurance they didn't load me at all after I had cancer.

There are 2 other insurers who don't load excessively or didn't last time I took out insurance. I got my information of which insurers to use from Breast cancer care.

Saga are supposed top be very good too.

Madness to go without insurance in my view. In the event of anything going wrong repatriation could cost you tens of thousands of pounds - Scheduled flight, doctor in attendance, oxygen on board, private ambulances etc. I know , I have been there.
I did a comparison last night with my issues declared (bypass) and got cover for a third of my first quote from staysure. I used these people

medical travel insurance comparison

Risk has increased. You have to accept the premium will cost some more.

Thank you for all your advice I wouldn't go uninsured the car caravan and my OH are overed but I just thought it was a rip off what they wanted for me . I am supposed to be clear in the next month . This is why I thought I would just take health or me independently . They want you to take insurance but you mustn't use it or need it .
Michael why didn't you keep the caravan use it here, or even site it and use it in this country rather than go on a cruise.

That's what we do since my wife was £1700 for 2 weeks in Tenerife with lung cancer, bought a brand new caravan instead, to replace the old one, with the money saved from not going abroad.

I have had the same problem. I have bowel cancer and went for internal radiotherapy which goes direct to the small malignant part left after having a polyp removed. I am at present I am having radiotherapy which I finish on 20th December, this is only to make sure that it hasn't gone to the lymph glands.. I rang loads of insurers and was told that they would not insure me. The ones that would quoted between £1700 and £2500.
I am going to Spain on 29th but haven't got insurance to cover the cancer. I told the wife if I feel that bad we would pack up and come home early. I would rather pay the extra to change to an earlier ferry.

I had my 12 months all clear last week. Still think I'll struggle for any kind of health insurance though!
