In the owner's handbook it states that the tyre pressure should be 42psi nut on the actual tyre it is marked as 36psi maximum pressure.
When the caravan had its first service last year in November, there was no note on the job sheet to indicate that the tyres required a different tyre pressure.
I could have gone by the owner's manual and over inflated the tyres causing damage. Do you think that the dealer should have made a note of it on the job sheet?
Personally I would be on to the manufacturer in order to check that the tyres are indeed the correct load rating & ask them what psi they should be inflated to bearing in mind that the tyre manufacturer recommends ony 36psi max also have a look at this website for further info on caravan tyres
I have already done as you suggest and load rating and size is supposed to be the same so no issue however it would have been nice if the dealer had informed us. After all they could have added an addendum to the owner's manual informing you of the change on your caravan. Technically the change makes the caravan non standard.
As it is a twin axle it has car tyres. Unfortunately the tyres are on the wrong way around and a lot of the markings are on the inside and not visible until the wheels are removed.
Tyres are only 'wrong way round' if one sidewall is marked as 'outside' & tread pattern may be non symetrical. If this is the case then get tyres refitted correct way round, as road holding could be affected, particularly in wet conditions.
Over inflating tyres by margin stated will not have caused any damage. Different makes of tyres of identical size & speed/load rating often have different max pressure ratings on sidewall. The handbook presumably is wrong or it refers to different make of tyre that might have been fitted to same model of caravan.

I understand the "wrong" way around part and accept it may be okay, but I think that an increase of at least 6psi could cause wear in the middle of the tyre plus the extra stress on a tyre designed to have a maximum pressure of 36psi.
The actual point I was trying to make is whether the dealer should have notified us of the difference in tyre pressures at the last service plus the bung in one of the tyres?
I think if you think a dealer workshop is going to read tyre sidewalls your are dreaming, so no, no workshop would notice such a small detail, which as pointed out don't matter anyway. Whether a tyre is under/over inflated depends on imposed load & that will dictate excess wear in middle or edges.
A twin axle caravan of around 1700kg is ok with 4 car tyres. The total load indexes of the 4 tyres would be much more than 1700kg & as weight is spread on 4 tyres they do not require such high pressure as large single axle caravan that requires commercial tyres with sufficient load rating over 2 tyres.

That sounds more like the tyres maximum pressure not the actual pressure you should be running.

In my swift handbook the section on tyres says...............your not going to believe this but I swear to god its true.............! for tyre pressures see handbook !
If the fitted tyres are marked max pressure 36psi, and the correct pressure from the manual says 42psi, then we are talking two different tyre constructions and the tyres fitted are not of the type that use 42psi.
Simply, 35/6pi max pressures are standard 'car tyres'.
Tyres with max working pressures of 42psi are 'Reinforced' car tyres, (aka, XL or extra load tyres).
As I see it then and as this is a twin axle van, it maybe that the fitted tyres are suitable but that depends on their max load as stated under the max pressure, but, at the correct pressure for that type tyre and not the handbooks 42psi!
