Help the wife thinks I am the only one to do this??
Has anyone noticed that on some sites, the drinking water often tastes / smells chlorinated?
I love my tea (the wife says I should carry a tea urn on my back). I was getting fed up when being on some sites that the water was tainting the taste of the tea, this seemed to be happening more often than not despite having the filter in the aquaroll and then using a jug filter after drawing from the tap, changing filters did not remove the taint and I sterilise the system at least twice a season.
In desperation, I bought some bottles water water to make the tea, whilst in the van!
That's it all this season every time I have been away I buy one or two of the 5 litre bottles of bottled water to use for tea, coffee and cold drinks. Perfect and not expensive, around a pound for a 5 litre bottle in most supermarkets. We still use the filtered water from the aquaroll for cooking vegetables etc.,
The says its my imagination, are there any others like me out these LOL!
Hi Bob
Had a look through the post you mentioned, seems some fill direct from the site tap. Tried this, but it did not stop the taint on the sites that had this. I put it down to possibly the water treatment / filtration in some areas at certain times as it not apparent every time.
We buy bottled water for cooking and drinks. 8l for £1 in aldi. Only use aquaroll water for washing up and washing us! I'm funny with water though, Even at home. I can tell when OH has filled the kettle from the tap and not the water filter.
It's not just you, but you are coming from the privileged position of being used to the finest Sussex drinking water. Most other water is polluted with industrial toxins.

I live in Burton on Trent, home of Marstons Pedigree, Carling, Coors and several other beers. Our water comes from boreholes and is perfect for brewing. Apparently other breweries "Burtonize" their water!!

They used to brew beer as it was one of the safest ways to drink the 'water' as it was so polluted.

Thank God for polluted water then- it keeps me in a job
not so much anymore these days but did find although boiled the tea tasted funny or different every where we we went.say the cup of tea tasted diffferent in york than it did in blackpool.york we always got a kind of scum on top.tried all ways.filling from the outside tap.filling from the caravan tap.keswick water was the best in tea making.there again tea from bottled water was not that good.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
We always take water from home for our first cuppa's and for the dog to drink otherwise she gets a funny tummy! If we have a longer stay we take bottled water.
Received in an e-mail:-
To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine..
And those who don't and are always
seen with a bottle of water in their hand.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 litre of water each day,
At the end of the year we would have absorbed
More than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria
Found in faeces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However,
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
Because alcohol has to go through a purification process
Of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of ......
