I am by no means wanting to put anyone off using ebay for caravans because I have had two cracking caravan deals deals in the past from genuine ebayers.
I seen this van on ebay and although it looked too good to be true, I pinged a query email because at this time of year you can occasionally get a real bargain.

subject Re: Hymer Nova 230K 5 berth caravan
I am unable with phone so please use email as primary contact option. I dont use phone for internet deals.
The van is based in Dundee Scotland. Due to my location and since view is not an option I have requested personal support and I was approved to use Buyer Protection Program. Here is how the process works:
- you give me your full name and shipping address
- I start the transaction with the eBay,
- they send further payment instructions,
- you have to pay for the item to eBay to secure the funds,
- they confirm me that they received the funds,
- I deliver the van,
- you receive the van,
- they send me the money.
Everything is covered by eBay. I will get paid only after you confirm that you received the van in good order.
Let me know if this is acceptable. Thank you
Lisa
================== end of email
I was instantly aware of a scam, so I called ebay to confirm, Buyer Protection does not cover non PayPal transactions so no doubt they would have sent me details of a fake escrow and asked to transfer cash to that.
Then followed up with a few fake/spoofed emails from ebay.
Anyway, ebay are investigating but I suspect the sellers account has been hacked and these fake van/motorhomes have been listed to lure people into transferring cash.
Don't be put off by this however, you can still buy from ebay if your careful, always use the ebay messaging system and not direct email. Use paypal or cash on collection, be smart about who you give your money too.
Hello,
Its still for sale. Immaculate condition, no damages, nothing to worry about. All necessary documents available. My current location is Scotland due to my work commitments,If this is going to be a quick sale, I will let it go for £4,800 delivered at my costs. Are you familiar to eBay? I will list the caravan on eBay Motors for the £4,800 buy it now price and I will send you a link to my auction, so you can buy it immediate.
As soon as you will confirm the payment to eBay, I will proceed delivery without any additional costs for you.
In case you are not familiar with them, please read their Buyer Protection and will see that they cover 100% the transaction done through them up to £50,000. You will receive the caravan with all the documents. As you know eBay is the best company of online transactions. If indeed interested in buying it and have the funds, I will list it on eBay, as I have a 100% positive feedback with them.
Please let me know your decision.
Thank you

subject eBay Customer Support
Hello Colin,
Thank you again for your contact regarding your report "abbycc78!".
Let me assure you that we'll looked into your complaint and will take the action that is required. Due to privacy laws I can't share details about this seller's account specifically, but the actions we can take against poor-performing sellers include:
- Warning the seller
- Ending their listings
- Taking away their Top Rated Seller status
- Placing selling limits on an account to reduce the amount of items a seller can list/sell
- Temporarily holding funds for PayPal transactions when the seller has a high level of buyer dissatisfaction
- Restricting them from buying and/or selling
- Temporary or permanent suspension from eBay
If you can’t see what action was taken this doesn’t mean that we haven’t taken any. Bear in mind that most of these actions can’t be seen by other members.
We look at a number of things when deciding to take action, such as their Feedback history and Detailed Seller Ratings, their trading history on eBay and any complaints against them from other buyers. This is why it's important to leave accurate, transaction-based feedback for every seller.
Thanks again for letting us know about this. Where we received a complaint, we take a close look at this seller's activity, and more complaints follow from other buyers, we'll look into their account again. For any inquiries, you can call us at 0845-355-3229.
I wish you all the best trading on eBay in the future.
Well done, also the reply email was very broken English too hmm
Saved hopefully someone from parting with their hard earned, good job eBay.

Strangely I had an identically worded email from Albert also in Scotland due to work last year!!!! I was naughty and played him along saying I was also in Scotland etc, all the time knowing it was a scam, I think it was through one of the caravan sale websites though, the advert was removed withinan hour odd me reporting it. I then replied to another knee and Lisa used the same wording...... I got her removed from Ebay then as well. It was always 3800 or 4800 though. Strange figure.you have to be do so on your guard.
------------- Fab time in France again.... Roll on next year!
All these scams require somebody daft enough to pay upfront for something they have not seen using methods other than Paypal. Most of these scams are for lower value items like laptops & phones etc.
