Guys I have just drained my water system down however I am certain there is water still in pipe works etc. I have tried blowing down pipes it did get a little out but I ran out of puff. I have had a look at the floe valve system which averages around £40 Is there a cheaper home made option that any of you use. I have a bailey ranger 510/4 2002.

many thanks

There certainly is - Have a look at this Old Post

Myself and several others have made them for a fraction of the cost of the retail kits.

All you need is a connector, some hose and a tyre valve. Should cost around £10 in total.

If you cant or dont fancy making one use a household water system pressure tester. These are about £15 and have push on water connection with pressure gauge and schrader valve ready made up. You still cant beat a bit of hose and a tyre valve for cheapness though!

It's a pity you don't live closer as you could have borrowed my Floe kit. I used it this morning and got another litre of water out the system despite driving home 120 miles with the drain tap open and all the taps in the on position.

Could you share the cost of one with a friend? It's a great bit of kit to only use once a year but it could save a fortune in repair bills.

Agree with Clever - just a shame the original Op in the thread linked has since removed his photo's, but as Clever says it's a simple enough thing to knock up.
  • Water inlet fitting suitable for your caravan
  • Length of hose - 12" or so will do
  • Schrader valve stuck in the end of, said hose

Fit kit to your inlet and pressure system with a foot pump or powered unit, open your tap and stand back ...

We use ours several times a year. In fact everytime we come back if I remember to do it. It only takes 5 mins and stops you from having stagnant water sitting in the pipes. I don't like to think what could grow / breed in stagnant water.

I'm probably over reacting, but I'd rather spend 5 mins after each trip than be ill on the next one !
