I realise that the subject of awning sizes has been done to death but hopefully this question will have a simple answer.

The brochure for my van says the Awning size is 9950mm. Isabella's website says I need a 975 or 989. I have seen an Isabella for sale which is a 1000 which in theory will too big but to me it seems that it will be 2" too long.

My question is will I get away with this or will it just not fit properly?

Depends on the pitch. I find my awning fits better on some pitches than others.

I noticed it was when i had to raise the side with the awning to level it.

If that wheel is raised the awning fits much better. Survived a serious battering a few years back in Cornwall.

A few people were adding storm straps or even taking them down.

Raise the van 2" and your sorted.

It's always better to have an awning that's slightly too long rather than short because if the ground slopes away from the caravan doorway you have the extra material to pitch it out. Besides, you can always drive the caravan onto ramps to take up the slack if need be but if it's too short then there's no solution to the problem.
