Hi all,we have an annoying problem with our omnivent sometimes when we try to open it the thing wont budge and you can try for ages with no luck, then the next time you try it opens no problem. The extractor works OK,it is just the outside cover that is a hit or a miss as to whether it will open or not.I have tried spraying it with silicon lubricant but it makes no difference.Anyone had similar problem, and anyone any ideas to cure it.Thanks replies.
The problem is grease from cooking, I had the same problem in my Lunar Lexon. In warmer weather it was no problem, when cold it was stuck. I took it apart and gave it a good clean, no problem after
When mine stuck i set the fan to blow upwards on speed 3 and the hatch opened , after that i made sure i didn't wind it down tight , no problems since .
yes mine is the same you wind the handle about 2 turns and it goes tight, i leave it for a couple of mins then go back to it and it opens.
sometimes when the handle is under tension for a while it suddenly pops open then it wins up ok.
We found that if you wind the handle so that it just has a little tension then after a few seconds it opens. Since then I took off the grill and sprayed the movable parts with silicone spray and it's been OK for the last 2 years.

Ours was replaced as it was under warranty so indicates it is a fault with the Omnivent. We found that if you tightened it and then opened it, most times it would open no problem.
If the caravan was bought from a dealer, it may be worth stating that it is an inherent fault under Sale of Goods Act and they need to repair or replace even if the caravan was bought 5 years ago! Worth a shot even if they only knock off 25%.
