Was at a local caravan showroom on Saturday. We had a noisy in a new van c19k and I noticed a water mark on the ceiling near awning rail - pointed this out to OH and another couple who were looking at van too. My question - if you were selling a new van for that much money, wouldn't you make sure there were no water marks on it? Or is it just me!

It was probabley just a blemish but this is the problem with spending a great deal of money, you expect it to be perfect & really it never will be. Your pride & joy is just mass produced in a couple of hours by averagely paid manual workers probably much like yourself who see their job as just a means to earn a living, probably like most folks, they get on a plane to go on holiday.

While they are screwing/gluing/sealing(properly you hope)together the caravan you have saved for, carefully chosen & are eagerly waiting for, they are building your cherished dream not theirs, nor are they thinking of the great caravanning experiences in wonderful places you will have with your beautiful new 'van because to them it is just the 6th or 7th caravan of the day, the one they want to finish before tea break....

Hence the blemish, look carefully under seats etc & it will be far, far worse. But on a more cheerful note, probably despite the rough edges, 99.5% of the factory output will be reasonably trouble free. If you want perfection, it costs a lot more than £19k.

I hav bought several new vans and in my experience that is nothing compared to some problems they send out new vans with. Its not right but they keep on selling.
