Not all kettles are the same. Some require more Ooomph than others to get the water boiling.
Most modern kettles use a lot of watts (Ooomph)
Our kettle in our kitchen uses between 2530watts and 3000watts.
Sites in the UK have a maximum of 3840 watts at your disposal BUT (another big BUT) the 3840 is the absolute max at your disposal on a good day, with no one else on site, good weather, good connection etc etc. Bear in mind you might have other 'stuff' in use at the same time. Important things like, well, hair straighteners, curling tongs and, God forbid, the fridge or TV. If the sites electrics aren't the bees knees then our kettle would be too powerful for the site and we would be cut off at the fuse.
That's why you can buy a low wattage kettle of say 750 watts from caravan shops etc.that, although takes longer to boil but hey you're on holiday, doesn't make the fusebox blow, well, a fuse???
------------- How come when some people visit the fountain of knowledge, they only gargle!!!
Thanks will look for a low wattage kettle, we used a cheap one in our camper and that was ok most of the time, makes sense now,
We don't do hair straighteners ect so will just be the fridge, phone charging and maybe potable DVD player :)
We have a cheap supermarket own brand kettle. It is 2kw and works fine. The only time we've had an issue was using it at the same time as the microwave. I only had to flip the trip and all was well again.
Before having our van holidays were abroad so had a travel kettle. Now don't bother going overseas so use travel kettle in the van.
Great ...hardly takes up any room on side and makes us boil only enough for our needs.
