Caught someone trying to steal our caravan this morning, we had a caravan stolen 2 weeks ago but was successfully recovered due to tracking system. (we live on a campsite)

We live in near Banbury in Oxfordshire, happened this morning as you can see from CCTV images.

They were disturbed as they were trying to take off wheel clamps, and made off. Even with my cameras, locks they still tried. SO going to add more today and put more clamps on wheels or remove. (I know they just come prepared with spares etc, but got to try something)

Thought this would highlight and may help.

Appears to be a Mitsubishi pajero, but any update etc would be grateful.

Thanks for your time

I,m not sure if you are referring to your caravan or work van! But I used this device when I had several attempts made to steal our van

http://www.jsbhublock.co.uk/

If you need to use your vehicle daily then its not for you but I can assure you that no one will be able to remove it & tow a caravan away

the way it is made & the wheel bolts it uses make it impossible to remove with wheel bolt removal tools & the materials used make it almost impossible to cut it off with out destroying the wheel hub

Do you have an alarm fitted. At least it would scream at you if the caravan was tampered with and turn it into a conspicuous loud flashing christmas tree if they did manage to tow it until the tracker was delt with.

Can you not block your caravan in onto your drive using another car or install some of those high security posts?

Absolute scum-bags!!!!! I bet your at your wits end worrying about it. Where was it recovered from two weeks ago I was wondering if it might be worth having a look around there to see if you can spot the vehicle. Could you possibly park your other vehicles in front of your caravan, also corner steady locks anything that makes it harder to steal really. Shame you cant electrify it.

Sue.

Parents run a caravan and camping site, we live on same site. Our caravan stored there. It was another that was stolen then recovered (Hobby, most sought after). They recovered it as they were emptying their personal possessions.

This is the first time ours has been attempted to be stolen. Im buying an ALKO lock and maybe the one mentioned above, as well activating the alarm to more sensitive and turning the caravan around so harder to be a easy target.

We only got a Coachman Amara caravan, so didn't think anyone would be interested in a low value item.

Why don't the manufacturers of security products, consider making hitch locks.wheel clamps etc, from stainless steel, which is highly resistant to saws, grinders and oxy/acetylene cutting torches,if people buy the present(ineffective it appears)ones, then they would pay the extra willingly,I know I would.

I know I'm a bit paranoid about our new van too. You get a lovely new van and then realise hmm this layout could well be attractive to a certain sector of the community. I have to say its a heavy twin axle motor moved into a tight enclosed on 3 sides space on drive and apart from a few hours in the day is blocked in by at least one car. But.. I really worry about it, and the other day I was behind a yellow transit van with a towbar slowly cruising around the area, he was driving she seemed to be taking directions on the phone and I managed to convince myself they were looking for my van!! Paranoid - much! I've gone from the stress of buying a new caravan to the stress of keeping hold of it! Never thought of CCTV though...!

RFID gate at the entrance so you have to wave a card in order for the barrier to rise?

Scumbags, nothing changes does it :-(.

we were at a site near banbury on 11th, 12th 13th of july 2013, and got talking to the site owners who told us two caravans had been stolen locally,  allegedly by a gang from the swindon area,  apparently one of the gang was caught  changing the plates on the recently stolen van  in a secluded lane a few miles from where the van was taken from... have you contacted the local police to find out ifany of the known associates drive a pajero, could be the same gang targeting banbury area.

It was taken by a white transit van.

Yes it was a travellers site in Christchurch. That's all we know, sorry.
We've beefed up security and added visible and hidden cameras and installing gates and sensors to act as a deterrent.
Hope you are successful in retrieving your caravan
Ensure you inform the police, they be able to piece it all together. .
