Hi all
I am thinking of changing from my old classic caravan to a more modern unit. Because of my health issues I would like to fit a motor mover to the next caravan so please , what are the pro's and con's of them, and above all which ones are the most reliable.

As far as I am concerned we could not use our van without a mover. There is only one con and that is the weight. Otherwise go for it. Depends how much you want to spend. They vary from £500 to £1200 for the automatic ones. Lots of choice and they are all probably equally reliable.
recommend one certainly if you can afford the cash and weight. That apart I don't really see a downside. We had a fairly basic Powrtouch which was purchased as a used unit and it was very good at what we wanted - moving the caravan. Their tech help desk was also excellent.
No doubt everyone will probably recommend the one they use. It all depends what you want - electronic engagement, soft start etc and how much you want to pay.

You thought wrong! We couldn't get our van off our drive without one but I usually reverse onto a pitch. Also if you have an Al-Ko lock it is much easier to put it on with a mover.
We have a powrtouch evolution. Great mover. Our last caravan had to go into storage because we couldnt gt it up the narrow slope that is our driveway. Van now goes in in a matter of minutes and never hits the wall of house once!

I'd like to see you reverse my 24' van onto my drive when it's length is greater than the width of the road. I suppose you could always try driving up the 9" kerb opposite and across my neighbour's garden!
we have had a powrtouch fitted for about 7 years or more,would not be without it.not for just getting out the caravan but leveling up onto ramps ect.due to parking restrictions outside of late i now hitch up the van using the mover.i can get the van out and turn it fully round in one spot to hitch up.

Big Al, if your so clever and can reverse my van into my garden behind my house I'll give you the caravan. I know YOU or anyone else for that matter could NOT do it without burning a clutch out.

After trying and failing without injury to get mine up and onto the drive and into the right place, I eventually gave in and bought a motor mover. And that's on a microlite caravan which a diminutive 5ft, 9st lightweight cannot push and shove with spine problems. Mine is a purpleline enduro, and since I've had it, I've never dreaded reaching home again.
Reversing no good here, bank on opposite side of very narrow road. Tried a Mr. Shifta, still no joy.
Like others have said before and since, I wish I had done it sooner!

Would'nt call it little, ha ha I realised you were just on a winding trip as I have noticed many of your comments trying to wind people up before ha ha. Bet you have a mover, have you? Lol
I just think he is a wind up merchant and you should not respond to such an ignorant response one day he will be infirm/old/disabled and then the next generation can take the p----------------- please excuse the expletive but everyone/cars have limits
