If you open the vent above the shower cubicle when in use it shouldn't make the area damp. All you have to do is check that the seals are in tact otherwise the water will run behind the seams which will then get trapped and probably cause damp spots. I dug out the old seal and re-sealed mine all round just to make sure it was waterproof.
It's a fallacy that the showers create damp in the van. Used correctly with adequate ventilation can be used for years without probs.. They wouldn't be fitted if they weren't 'Fit for purpose'......Mick
I would not use the shower in our last caravan. 1996 Coachman Mirage. Shower combined with toilet and cupboards, vinyl covered wall boards and curtain. Frightened of damp problems. Our new(er) caravan has a shower separate from the toilet. It has white plastic walls. We use this one all the time.

I used ours just to try it out but wouldn't use it all the time as it's tiny and I'd rather use a proper shower at a campsite. I had the toilet roof light open and it all stayed dry and nice considering our caravan is 20.
Ours has a vent in the roof but personally all our shower cubicle is used for is to hold the dirty wash basket, I prefer to use the on site showers that I've paid for.

Too limiting! Some of our favourite sites have no showers. The odd barefield rally can be excellent fun too.
We normally use the shower in the van but there is a crack in the tray that I've attempted to seal up. I'll be scared to use it now as I won't know for sure that the sealant has worked and we'll end up with a damp van :-( Shame really as it saves walking over to the shower blocks.
We bought a van with an end bathroom and a shower unit. We use it in preference to site facilities. Remember you are only using the sites shower space, not the water or the electricity to heat it, so its not costing anymore and you can choose when to shower !!!
I think it's different if you have a lovely new van with a proper shower cubicle though. You practically have to sit on the loo to shower in mine which is fine in a hair washing emergency but I wouldn't want to do it every day!

Could somebody tell me where I can buy a van, less than 10 years old, without a shower?
I never use mine as the site I am on has an excellent shower block (3 in fact) so I see no point in squeezing into a tiny shower and struggling to dress in a small bathroom when I can stroll up the site and use a clean, warm and spotlessly clean wetroom.
