Have just rung my insurance company up (Churchill ) to transfer the current insurance on my car to our Cherokee Jeep ( which we purchased to pull our caravan - Coachman Amara 560/4) We have been told that they will not insure us for towing the caravan as it is over 7 m and the jeep is less than 3.5 tonnes.......
Any idea what we can do ?

Think you should speak to Churchill again to clarify and ask why.
Google Jeep Cherokee kerb weight and it show as 2000kg or less .Dont know where the 3.5 tonnes comes from your car and van together will probably be less than 3.5 tonnes.
Please post on here what happens because there's who are insured with Churchill will want to know.

My husband got his figures wrong !! The shipping length of the caravan is 7.5 .

The ACTUAL length of the caravan without the hitch is less than 7m therefore lgally ok to insure !! Just had to ring Churchill who were very nice but I've had to start from scratch again as he cancelled the policy in a fit of rage !!!!!!!
