Well it turns out the van is a 1983 sprite so 30 years old!
We had her serviced and she was good to go after a couple of new tyres and a couple of bits and bobs amounting to no more than a fiver! Engineer was pleasantly surprised, methinks. :)
We have ripped out the old carpet to find that a previous owner has kindly reboarded the floor, perfect for the new vinyl we bought and need to fit now!
A friend who has a caravan storage place is reupholstering the seats with newer foam (not new, budget doesn't stretch to that!) and the upholstery fabric I picked up from the bankrupt shop in Preston at £3 a metre. The cushions in the van are the originals as I suspected and she tried to convince me to reuse them but they are really not my thing! The foam is disintegrating but we will keep them in the attic, safe for when we eventually come to sell the van.
I have spent past couple of days adding blackout lining to the inoffensive beige chenille curtains which were already in the van after washing and drying them. Today the wool has arrived for my crocheted granny blanket in the yellow, orange, green, brown and beige tones I chose for the van, hopefully in keeping with the age.
Also the awning has been waterproofed with storm brush on and it has worked a treat. :)
Feeling very excited, not to mention an age under double digits again!
Aww thanks, will get some up as soon as there is something worth showing! I meant to get some before shots but I don't think I have any with the carpet or.cushions in, just stripped out...hopefully the afters will still be impressive although it may be some time before the crochet blanket is added!
