I recently purchased a Lunar Freelander 640 2004. The Lunar manual instructions for the Ultrastore seems the same for gas and electric.
Gas, turn outer control to flame symbol.
Electric, turn outer control to 'h' ( h points at the same flame symbol?)
Is this control for gas only?
I have a separate fused switch with water heater written on. Does the immersion heater just work by this?
The water is heating up ok with fused switch on and the dial turned to the flame symbol. Am I using gas and electric? It is the electric instruction which is confusing and no mention of a fused switch?

Trying to think what was on our previous caravan ( going seanile only months ago). I'm sure we only used the ring if heating water on gas but we never used that, we just used to flick a switch labelled water heater by the fuse trip switches.

To run off electric, leave the outer ring in the 'off' position and switch the spur on. The element will heat up the water to a fixed temperature i.e., no thermostat operation.
For gas only, ensure the spur is off and turn the outer gas control ring to the flame to ignite, then use the inner dial for temperature setting (thermostat). Also ensure the external cowl cover is removed when running the Ultrastore on gas.
For quicker heating, you can use gas and electric combined initially
Thank you for the replies. Pauls answer is what I thought it might be. Lunar should get someone like him to write their manuals or correct them. I will be out with the caravan in two weeks. I will try gas and electric and report back.
