Hello all, I have just bought a 82 ci sprite compact and was wondering if anyone could give me some information on what awning I could buy to suit this caravan ?
Thank you in advance Adrian
Welcome to the mad house Adrian
The first thing you have to do is measure what size of an awning your van will take. After that it come down to how much you wanna pay being brand new or second hand.
Hello and thank you. Being that the compact is only 6ft 2in high the measuring of the awning isn't the same because of the low roof line. It is more like the hight of a eriba caravan
The Compact is quite a rare beast, I've only seen one and that was about 15 years ago.
I think the only solution may be to get a driveaway awning for a camper van of similar height to your caravan and adapt the tunnel part of the awning to get as good a seal as possible. If you put your location in your profile somebody may be able to suggest a local stockist where you could see some awnings and see what might be suitable.
Only bought it last night and had a good look at it today and it is really good for the age of it. Going to leave it standard apart from modern wiring, lights and sockets. Thank you rob I will do that :-)
Hello gigs, What sort of money are you thinking for the awning and what area are you in?. I have been thinking of selling the caravan because the Mrs do not like it and iv been trying to convince her it is rare and lovely :-)
Hi I know exactly what you are saying about being 'rare and lovely' Ill health forced me to sell ours. It had been garaged since new and just me and another 'obsessional old chap' had owned it so it was in beautiful condition. Can you convince your wife that it will over the next few years pottentially make more money than money in the bank if you can store it inside with no weather damage. Was yours the one I saw which had a load of the original paperwork with it?
These awnings are as difficult as 'hens teeth' to come by. However I found the addition of the awning gave much more living space as the bed can be left made up .
I found this one advertised in the wilds of scotland. It had one tear on the outide where the ridge pole sticks out to form the peak overhang. I had it repaired proffessionaly and it in no way affects its performance as a watertght living space. We are near canterbury in Kent so far away from you in Bristal. I'm looking for £150 + postage which I feel is realtic for their rarity.
Let me know if you want it. It also comes with a diagram of how to errect the frame thus avoiding an onsite row and potential divorce :-))

Did you ever sell that awning?
Just bought a sprite compact, came with a tatty awning and after looking at it i'd pay £150 just for the instructions😉. If that comes with a better awning, result!
If you want to splash out on the latest awning technology then new for 2018 Kamps are making a compact air awning to fit Pop top and Eriba type caravans.
Its so new that not many dealerships know about them yet, but they are up on the main Kampa website and can be found by googling Kampa mini or Kampa poptop awning, and it should come up with the page.
Edited to add that Norwich Camping have these mini awnings in stock along with a youtube clip of one being erected if anyone is considering buying one.

Hi yes I still have an original obi awning. I sold my Compact last year but while I had it was fortunate to buy a spare awning so kept it to sell separately. To save us all time. I want £100 for it + postage from Canterbury Kent to wherever you are. It has steel frame so all told is quite a heavy item.
It is in good condition but I would give it a waterproofing before using.
Let me know if you’re interested.
