I have just bought my first caravan a pre 2000 Elddis which both inside and out is in good condition, the only problem is that it is really dirty on the outside.
Can anybody through their own personal experience recommend a cleaner/polish for the coach work including the glassfibre and alloy?.
And while I have your attention,do I need to register the caravan as a new owner?
I also use Fenwicks 'Caravan Cleaner' which you mix with water and have been for the past 7 years because it works well in removing stubborn algea (green stains). I also use several soft paintbrushes and work in a slightly stronger solution into the awning rails and seals but don't use a stiff brush as it is likely to dislodge any waterproof seals so always stick with a fairly soft brush. When the caravan is clean you can use Fenwicks 'Bobby Dazzler' (which you also mix with water) to make a finished shine but if you want a 'no water' cleaner then 'Greased Lightning' works well adding a shine which you can also clean your windows with without leaving any streaks.
if the caravan is already cris registered, then the procedure is the same as a v5 on a car,you and the previous owner send the two halves back to cris, but it is entirely up to you.as for the cleaner, there are several available and all perform well,DO NOT use a pressure washer is my main advice,it can destroy the mastic seals of your panels, causing water ingress
Many thanks for your replies and I will certainly use the Fenwicks products you have all recommended. I have no doubt over the next few months I will have more questions.
Aldi caravan cleaner is very good all round.Use diluted or neat for black marks. Also can be used on all hard surfaces. Great value at about £3.99 a Litre. Should be in stores soon.
we have a 99 eldiss and it was in a terrible state when we bought it ,laid up under a tree for 3 years ,we bought MUC-OFF and it cleaned it up to a sparkling finish ,swear by the stuff a litre bottle is about £6 off of amazon .does what it says on the bottle brill
Don't waste your money on Fenwicks, just use any good car shampoo

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Hi Lyn..WD4o is excellent too for black marks and if you use a stuff called Armorall on the rubbers which you can buy from car shops this will protect them as well as stopping black streaks. Also stops the windows from sticking to the glass.
