I am going to 'convert' our new to us 4 berth into a 5 berth. I have measured up a 6ft piece of 10mm plywood so it fits nicely down the side of the bottom bunk but I am trying to decide the best way to make a frame to hold it together. When not in use, I would like to slide the 'extra bed' under the chair cushion and then use the under chair storage areas for the supports. My problem is this, what could I use to secure the supports to the plywood? I don't want to fix anything to the plywood so it would have to fix to the supports. I was thinking of a small barrel bolt and securing it into a hole in the plywood but not sure this would hold it in place when converted into a bed.
I know what I want to do but not sure if this has made any sense!
