Hi new to this, got our van in may, been sat on the drive so we can play with it and get to know it and how it works. Its a 1999 lunar lx 2000 524. it has a carver fanmaster 4000 heater, but it only seems to blow out cold air so wont be any good in this country lol! In the manual it says thermostat is situated on the installation box, but what and where is it???? am thinking the thermostat is prob on  alow setting hence blowing cold air.

Next question, we got van from a friend, but have no documents apart from the manual for it, do you have regisitration docs like for a car to prove its yours? or is it just like any household item as such that you buy and its yours.

Thanks in advance

After 1994 all caravans have a registration document, definitely ask your mate for this, as for your heater have you tried it on gas, just to see if it gets hot, also on electric it may take a bit of time to warm up so turn blower off let it get warm then put it back on to see if it blows warm air, remember the heating ducts can go under the van and cool them down a bit

Thanks, friends mum originally purchased it and said there was no reg documents with it. there is a cris no on van, would it be worth contacting them and asking? are they the right people. Will try it on gas as only tried electric so far, the link just gave instructions that we have already in manual. Thanks anyway x

About 1 in a 1000 suffer from a faulty thermostat so I doubt that's the problem!
240v main power must of course be switched on, so look for an isolation switch similar to the water heaters mains heating switch.
Also check the mains 'kettle' plug connection to the fires control box has not come loose, you'll find this box over the back of the fire in the top right corner, plug is in the bottom right corner of the box.

After that or even the first thing to check is, do the lights all work on the fires slider control? and then only one at a time?.
If so, do you hear any 'clicking' coming from that control box?

All I have to prove my van is owned by me is a 'sold as seen' receipt!

I'm sure the people who buy second hand can't all have registration docs. If you mean like a V5 registration doc for a car proving ownership, they don't do those for vans.

No oficial dvla reg for caravans, just Cris reg which is a private company & completely optional for new owners to update. The danger here is that the caravan might have been stolen several owners ago before your friend bought it. If you try & register it with Cris now & it comes up stolen then the insurance co that paid out on original claim will want money off you or the caravan......so let sleeping dogs lie, I would.

Furthur to other post, we have had a play with the heater, it still only blows cold air, and the heater bit, ie not the fan doesnt get warm either, do you think we need a whole new unit? As for reg with CRIS, we going to take tentz advice and leave it for now!
