How many people have their TV in the awning?

Would it bother you if you wanted a bit of peace and quiet?

TBH someone with the tv on full blast (hearing problems) inside the caravan would annoy me, let alone in an awning.

But I just wondered if this practice was acceptable or not.

Well it annoys us alot when we come across it, especially as we have a folding camper so the sound travels more. Once when there was some big football match on I could tell what the score was from the TV in the awning next door - obviously his wife had banished him from the van cos she didn't want to watch the football but we still had to listen to it. When we watch TV we always use headphones so as not to disturb others and I never understand why other people can't do this as well. Also I don't think people in motorhomes using the cab radio appreciate quite how much the sound from the door speakers travels on campsites especially the bass.

Televisions blasting, Radios blaring, Kids sceaming and hollering, Babies crying, Dogs barking, Generators droning, Granny coughing her lungs up, Teenagers playing football, the whole family playing rounders, Not exactly the makings of a peacfull getaway, thats why we only use a couple of out of the way CLs, Both have ten acres of heavenly bliss.

I think you will find all what you have mentioned on alot of sites.
As for the tv. mine is in the awning,as we live, cook, brew up etc in the awning, we use the van to shower, wash up, and sleep.

Some people like to moan! The whole point of caravaning/camping is to get away from it all, with the family. I'd rather children running/playing games as a family than a TV blaring away.
Luckily, never found a site with TVs or Radios Blasting, generators droning, and dogs barking, you must be so unlucky.

I thought that was the list of what Logan's lot got up to during a family get away? Not what other campers had done to him. Hence his need to use an out of the way CL?

Our TV is in the van,and to be honest it's hardly ever turned on apart from the odd DVD for the kids on a rainy day, but have seen quite a few peeps with them in the awning, just a matter of preference I guess.
I've seen them in tents too.

It is possible to watch a tv without disturbing your neighbours, there's a clever little control called volume (it's just that there's a few people out there that need to be shown how to use it)

My hubby has hearing problems but a set of wireless head phones work a treat when necessary. We're on a seasonal and most people have tv's in the awning and no one ever complains. We only go weekdays though when the site is almost empty as I really can do without kids riding bikes and kicking footballs like lunatics.
I'm not a misery but I've been there, seen that and done it and now it's time for a bit of peace and quiet so I've adjusted my times at the 'van to suit.

Can't really comment can you about a tv in the awning if you were originally a tenter and took a tv as its no better or worse. The only time I've ever come across tv being a pain was a couple on the next pitch a few years ago who had tv in van on front chest of drawers, volume really ramped up and all windows open. But they were such a lovely elderly couple we never complained!

No different from a tv in a tent and loads have that. Use sense with the volume control and if you have hearing problems use headphones or subtitles.

I have a radio in the awning and like to sit out there listening to it in the evening. If I think it's likely to cause offence I used my headphones.

I only visit large commercial sites and to be honest if you've got problems with my radio, tv or kids playing outside then you're on the wrong site. I mean I wouldn't go to a CL and complain about the quiet.

There's a distinct difference between a family enjoying theirselves on holiday and those that take it to excess and spoil other peoples enjoyment though. It's just a shame when some people can't work out where you cross the line.

We recently visited a site that had a laptop one OHP playin Madagascar 3 on large screen on the side of their caravan. Lots of kids joined and watched too. It was fab, not a all loud or distracting.

Neither awnings nor tents provide any sort of sound insulation, so if you are in one and play music or have the TV on, your near neighbours will hear it.

In the end it all comes down to whose rights are considered more important.  Is it your right to impose your taste in entertainment on others, whether they like it or not, or is it their right to an environment free of the sound of football/soaps/X factor?

I have to say having tented, trailer tented and now caravanned I've never been bothered by people's TV's and cannot think of any occasion when I've actually heard anyone's. Unless its after hours and likely to keep anyone awake and is not blaring, it wouldn't cause me any concern.
