Is it just me or are caravan cushions/beds really uncomfortable?
When the rear double bed was "made up" I felt I was sleeping on a relief map of the himalayas!! OH was very amused.
I can't understand why the cushions are sculpted i.e. the front half of the cushion is higher than the rear. Even if you turn them over (as I assumed you should).
Does anyone else feel the same and if so what did you do about it if anything?
We used to turn them over tried them all different ways , it was like a game of tetris and add a mattress topper, it did help somewhat, but in the end we bought a fixed bed.
But yes I agree I understand the bumpy moulding at the front of the seats when sitting for leg comfort.but when you have to turn them over its just way to bumpy.
My old old bailey didn't have bumps it was just flat foam, I slept like a log on that!

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
I used to find them uncomfortable. When we got our caravan that had parallel seating friends told us that the way round the bumps is to turn the cushions so that the bumps/sculpted bit is against the caravan wall then put the back cushions on the pull out. I felt this was too much flaffing about having too take the whole seating cushion off too turn it round so put up with. We now have a L shaped seating and this is a lot better
Just like some of the advice above, we position the bumpy parts along the caravan wall and also bought a memory foam topper from Argos which made a big difference.
As pointed out, the cure is a memory foam topper. The cheap ebay ones do the job. I got a 3inch thick double topper with cover for £45. Just put 'memory foam matress topper' into ebay search.
Like the majority bumps go next to the walls then a memory foam topper, at the moment we are using an ordinary mattress topper( it takes up less room.) and it works just as well as our memory foam topper.
We put the seat backs at the head and feet of the bed, and then turn the seats round so bumpy bits are against the seat backs. That way, only one join to sleep on; the cushions cover the 'head' end seat back, and who cares about where your feet are!
Cushions are left the correct way up, and we cover them with a feather filled topper, but I bet memory foam is more comfortable!
Finally, a (king size) flat sheet over the top and tucked under to keep it all together.....cracking!
Would like a fixed bed.....just as soon as kids leave their bunks!

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?
This threads got me thinking old candy had nice flat cushions no buttons no rolls but honeysuckles got buttons leg rolls and a set of draws in the middle of the bed so we have lumps bumps and who's going to a draw handles stuck in there back to sort out as we're going to have to sleep across the van. We used to sleep head under front windows in candy so no climing over each other. I can't handle memory foam they make me to hot and I feel smothered with them. It might be an idea to take the air bed incase we end up on that in the awning lol

It's nice to be important but its more important to be nice
we have to leave the bumpy bits in the normal place with the back seat rest in the middle. This is due to the van being 5 berth and the fixings and bar support for the bunk bed push the cushions up too high. It is okay when sitting as the manufacture has taken an L shaped cut out of the back of the seat cushion. Great went sitting but not so good when used as a bed as you get flat / bump / flat / bump / flat. Thank goodness it's the kids bed!
Have tried all different ways but can't get nay better option.
We turn ours over but have to have the backs in the middle or we would have gaps. We have memory foam topper from instore which is fine, like fallen angel I too get boiling, so then I covered with flat sheet but I got sick of throwing a flat sheet over and tucking down sides that I now place the mattress in a double duvet cover which is then easier to tuck in as its just slighty bigger, also good for storing
Where do you store the topper during the day though, what a pest. I have a fixed bed but caravan designers need to sort out the cushion rolls they seem to cause more problems than they solve.
