I am considering upgrading to a recent model Buccaneer Cruiser but I don't know anyone who owns a Buccaneer or has owned one so I have a few questions:
Are Buccaneers any good over time?
What's the build quality like?
Spares availability - any good?
Any issues or problematic areas to consider?
Thanks!
Mark

heavy caravans! no bother with parts as thee are the top end of the elddis range but everything else is the same as any ther caravan and you need to check it out throughly before you take it from the dealers

We have 2018 Buccaneer Cruiser and are very happy with it. Initially we bought a 2016 Cruiser but we kept having issues with front and rear cracked panels due to the type of material used. We rejected the caravan as we could not find any other brand to match the Buccaneer, we bought another Cruiser as they had changed the material used for the front and back panels. No real issues so far.
Remember if buying any brand of caravan, if cost is under £30k pay deposit with credit card and have some on finance as that offers you a lot of protection in the vent something goes wrong. Lastly you have the Consumer Rights Act 2015 on your side if you buy from a dealer and within the first 30 days you can reject the caravan for a full refund if you find a major issue.
If a first time buyer I would not recommend buying a high priced caravan privately as you could lose a lot of money if there are any issues. One area of concern on some model years is damp around the top of the front windows so make sure that the area is checked for damp in your presence.
Thanks for all of the comments. They are much appreciated.
I did note that it weighs 1953kgs (IIRC). That puts the train weight at almost 5 tonne! Good points about the on site inspection, particularly the potential damp issue!
I was looking at a 2018 model so thankfully it looks like it'll be one with the different material.

We have the 2018 which is after they changed the material for the front and rear panels. We upgraded the MTPLM to 2000kg and giving is extra payload as you really need an AWD motor mover on the caravan. We tow with a Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD 3.0l.
We also have an air con and Satellite dish fitted and have upgraded the two front bunk seats at our own expense as they tend to sag rather quickly. We love the underfloor heating as it makes a big difference to warming up and keeping the caravan cosy.
Will you be buying privately or from a dealership and if the latter is it a Buccaneer dealership?

Hi Ian, Happy New Year! Thanks for the response.
I was looking at a Buccaneer from a dealer but that got sold away before I had a chance to do anything. I don't think this particular local dealer is an Elddis dealer (I'll have to check).
I've got a few things to sort out this year but will persuing a post 2018 Bucaneer this year, for sure.
